A particularly attractive and complex school map – lots of gardens.

An orienteering map of an interesting school – it’s partly bordered by an old railway formation.
The Bedroom
One part of this place really is called The Bedroom. This is an orienteering map for schoolkids on school camp riding in tinnies. Yes really!
Cougal Track
Here is a tough and unrelenting track we did not put in the Family Bushwalks book because it’s a little too remote, dangerous and exposed.
Apparently it’s also possible to travel west along the Border Track from Mt Cougal to Springbrook, and NE then SE from Boyds Butte to the Cascades.

The Cream Track
This is something special – the back way into Springbrook from the end of Tallebudgera Creek Road. The route has recently been ratified, modified and variously signed by Gold Coast City Council.
I walked the track on 3rd November 2016. It’s tough – 750m climb over 5km.
The landowner at the top welcomes walkers who need to traverse their land BUT ONLY if you get and carry a free permit from www.thecreamtrack.com.au
Family Bushwalks in South East Queensland
My new book created with Gillian Duncan is now available for purchase at www.familybushwalks.com.au. It’s our third book, following two books of recreational trails for cyclists; this one is aimed at walkers and runners who want to go bush without committing to long distances or lots of climbing.
300 walks are described in detail including of course a brand new fully researched topo map showing all points of entry, resources like water and shelter, and making clear the effort required to complete the walk.
