We were very pleasantly surprised at how quickly the First Edition of Family Bushwalks in South East Queensland sold out its initial print run of 2,500 copies. Following a question from a reader “Isn’t Toowoomba in SEQ?” we added a comprehensive Toowoomba Region chapter and beefed up the Somerset Region chapter for the Second Edition which is now available in shops and online at www.familybushwalks.com.au
Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Guide
Not long ago a cafe proprietor on the BVRT mentioned to me that she had nothing informative to give or sell to BVRT users. I promised to try to come up with something, and when we had finished preparing the Fifth Edition of Where to Mountain Bike in SEQ I realised this was a golden opportunity to piggyback the print run. Gillian quickly packaged up the Somerset chapter into a 12 page Guide to the BVRT and it is now in stock with a remarkable 20+ retailers in the Brisbane Valley.

The Cream Track
This is something special – the back way into Springbrook from the end of Tallebudgera Creek Road. The route has recently been ratified, modified and variously signed by Gold Coast City Council.
I walked the track on 3rd November 2016. It’s tough – 750m climb over 5km.
The landowner at the top welcomes walkers who need to traverse their land BUT ONLY if you get and carry a free permit from www.thecreamtrack.com.au
City of Gold Coast has signs and online information stating that permits are no longer available but this is contradicted by the website above.
Whistling Kite Wetlands, Russell Island, Redland City
Here is a relatively new and little known but fully signed and maintained walk on one of the Southern Moreton Bay islands.
