Mid-Week Event, Bunyaville West

"Long" 11 controls 4.5km 215m climb (4.8%)
I ran with David Morris; our time of 61 minutes was good and put us 5th of 14, 6 minutes behind a young buck and best of all ahead of Su Yan.
1: Down the track then hack through the green, not ideal but found the control quickly.
3: Aimed off left and relocated at the waterfall.
4: Up to the track and contour from the saddle, worked well.
5: All went well until we attacked from the track, aimed off well to the right and still missed it so wasted 2 or 3 minutes going down and up again.
6: Tried to contour to the right of the gully but the green forced us up on to the track.
7: OOPS. I left 6 thinking I was leaving 7 looking for the stream bend to cross the gully, just kept going (very puzzled) to pick up the track and relocate and found 7. Phew.
8: Followed the stream bed through the lantana then went straight.

I was controller for this event. Ollie completed Red 1 in a remarkable 65 minutes. I am pleased to report that the event was flawless 8^)

This was in fact the longest course. I took 40 minutes (9.1mpk)

A very clean run; my only loss of time was trying to find the missing clipper at 7. Jacqui beat me by 20 seconds to take 1st of 23 competitors.

My 8 year old son Daniel ran his very first course unaccompanied (at least that's what he thought) and executed perfectly although not exactly quickly. His only problem was he couldn't actually reach number 3! His time of 44 minutes was a little slower than Winnie's 13 minutes.
I collected the controls.
